Genshin Impact Launches on Xbox Series X|S in November 2024 with Exclusive Game Pass Perks

Genshin Impact debuts on Xbox Series X|S on November 20, 2024, with exclusive perks for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, including special in-game bundles.

Genshin Impact will finally arrive on Xbox Series X|S on November 20, 2024, marking the game's debut on Xbox after being available on mobile, PC, and PlayStation since 2021. The game won't be coming to Xbox One, but it will be accessible on that console through Xbox Cloud Gaming for those with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

This collaboration between HoYoVerse and Xbox was announced in August 2024, and it brings with it several perks for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. These players will receive special in-game bundles at launch and during subsequent updates, though the exact contents of these bundles are yet to be revealed. They could potentially include valuable items like Primogems, Banner Pulls, or other consumables.

While holding a back and forth discussion with WIndows Central, these details were also dropped. Importantly, while multiplayer features are typically locked behind Xbox Game Pass Core (formerly known as Xbox Live Gold), Genshin Impact will remain free-to-play without requiring an additional subscription for multiplayer access. This is in line with the game's monetization model and was confirmed by a HoYoVerse representative, despite some initial confusion on the Xbox website.

Given how popular Genshin Impact remains, with regular updates introducing new regions, storylines, and characters, this launch is a significant step for HoYoVerse's ongoing expansion. Whether other HoYoVerse titles like Honkai: Star Rail or Zenless Zone Zero will also make their way to Xbox depends on the performance of Genshin Impact on the platform, which will likely influence future decisions by the developers.
