Valve Software, the company behind the popular video game distribution platform Steam has just kick-started a new festival. As per the information available, the company has brought back its Steam Game Festival to offer upcoming games as part of its early access program. The company held the first iteration of the Steam Game Festival back in 2020 after COVID-19 disrupted the world. Now, the company has just started the second iteration of the festival to highlight upcoming games from independent developers. The week-long Steam Game Festival is back and it will go on till February 9, 2021. As part of the announcement, gamers can access playable demos from hundreds of game developers during the course of the week. In addition to the demos that players can download, the event also includes developer features, live streams, and the chance to chat. It is also worth noting that the Steam Game Festival landing page will also highlight the playable demos for upcoming games that are on your wishlist. Beyond this, Steam will also showcase demos for games depending on your purchase and gameplay habits.
Some important game demos available during the February 2021 edition of the Steam Game Festival include Dream Engines: Nomad Cities. One can also test-drive Graven, Minute of Islands, SkateBird, Warhammer 40,000: Dakka Squadron - Flyboyz Edition, and more. In addition to the festival, some new information surfaced around the long-rumored China version of Steam. According to an announcement from Video Game analyst Daniel Ahmad, it looks like Valve will launch the China version on February 9.
Ahmad stated that Valve has teamed up with Perfect World and will release a “public beta” version of Steam. The Chinese version of the platform will only include games that have been approved by the Chinese government. Looking closely, the platform will include Dota 2 and CS: GO at the beginning. Finally, the company is also likely planning another Steam Sale starting from February 11, 2021.
