Intel Core Ultra 200V Series Launched in India, Delivering AI-Driven Productivity, Efficiency, and Superior Gaming to Ultraportable Laptops
Laptops powered by this new chip series are designed for enhanced efficiency and a seamless balance between work and play, making them the ideal all-in-one device for versatile use.
Intel has launched its most efficient x86 processor family – the Intel Core Ultra 200V series, in India on September 12, 2024. The new chips, dubbed "Lunar Lake," are intended to be potent in AI-powered computing while maintaining a balance between performance and power efficiency. These AI processors were introduced in India about a week after their global launch at IFA in Berlin.
The range of devices using Intel's Core Ultra 200V are set to hit the market on September 24. Intel has partnered with manufacturers such as ASUS, MSI, Acer, HP, Lenovo, Dell, and others that are currently available for pre-ordering from major online outlets like - Amazon, Flipkart, and Croma, among others.
Commenting on the launch, Gokul V Subramaniam, President, Intel India and VP Client Computing Group shared, "With the new NPU, we bring nearly 4x the performance of our prior generation with up to 48 TOPs. Lunar Lake is the most power-efficient processor we have built, bringing AI-driven usages to reality and delivering 20 hours of active and productive battery life.”
AI at the Core
The highlight of Intel's event was the emphasis on AI integration, efficiency and operational sustainability for manufacturers. According to Intel executives, the Core™ Ultra 200V series is designed to optimize everyday computing tasks using artificial intelligence, especially for those in the creative industry. The processors offer seamless application compatibility, allowing creators to harness the power of AI for tasks like video editing, graphic design, and 3D rendering. Intel’s collaboration with over 500 optimized AI models promises a smoother, more efficient experience for users with extended battery life.
Local AI Processing and Privacy Focus
The company's representatives also shared that Core Ultra 200V series has what Intel simply branded the "RAG Architecture" (Retrieve-Access-Generate), which means AI tasks will be processed locally at the device, and they would not require any internet connection. This is to reduce the risk of sharing sensitive information to AI platforms running on cloud processing, which requires that sensitive data be shared and used for training purposes. all devices equipped with these processors and running the latest version of Windows will be eligible for a free update to Copilot+ PC features, available starting in November.

Gaming Performance of Intel AI Powered Laptops
For gamers, Intel highlighted that the new processors allow AAA gaming on thin and ultralight laptops, thanks to the integrated Intel® Arc™ GPU and the new Xe2 graphics architecture. This promises up to 64 frames per second (fps) on graphics heavy games like Spider-Man Remastered, and going all the way up to 129 on competitive focused games like Counter Strike 2. While the numbers doesn't really stack up against gaming laptops that has dedicated GPUs, it is still an important leap for ultra thin laptops segment which have traditionally struggled to offer such performance.
For potential buyers, it's clear that these laptops are primarily designed for users who need robust performance for everyday tasks, efficient content creation, and moderate gaming. They are not intended for gamers seeking high-end performance, particularly in competitive titles where low latency and high frame rates are critical. Full reviews, especially from a gaming perspective, are anticipated once the processors become available later this month.
