Consumer electronics giant LG has just launched its latest gaming monitor as part of its Ultragear series. According to the announcement, this new monitor is called the LG Ultragear 27GN950 and it features a 27-inch screen. The company claims that this gaming monitor is the “world’s first” product to feature a 4K resolution along with a 1ms response time. It also comes with a 144Hz refresh rate to provide competitive gaming to players. The highlight of the game is the Nano IPS panel along with a 1ms response time. In addition, the LG Ultragear 27GN950 also comes with G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium support with VESA Display HDR600 certification. Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support will ensure that gamers “experience seamless movement” in fast games while avoiding screen tearing. This means that the gaming monitor offers the best of everything, be it gaming, content consumption, or even content creation. LG has also added support for VESA Display Stream Compression (DSC) which allows 4K HDR with 10-bit color depth over one DisplayPort connection.
The panel also comes with 98 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut along with 400nits peak brightness. The 27-inch panel comes in the standard 16:9 aspect ratio with 3,840x2,160 pixels resolution. As part of the announcement, Hak Hyun Kim, the Director for Home Entertainment division at LG Electronics issued a statement. He stated, “Despite the widespread economic disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the global video games and esports industry is thriving. With the onset of innovative technologies in gaming such as AR, VR, gamers today look for an immersive gaming experience that “takes them away from reality”. And with our latest launch, we want to provide gamers with just that.”
In terms of the design, the new monitor features a border-less display along with a “V-Wing shaped” adjustable stand. The gaming monitor also comes with RGB Sphere Lighting 2.0 along with “sound and video sync mode”. This feature offers an immersive experience in terms of the ambient lighting around the monitor. Specifications wise, it also comes with 2 HDMI ports, one Display Port, one USB upstream port, and 2 USB downstream ports.

LG has also added other features including Dynamic Action Sync for reduced input lag, Black Stabilizer, a crosshair for improved aiming, Reader mode, and flicker-free technology to reduce eye strain.
