Nvidia has just announced its latest Ampere-based GeForce RTX 3000 series mobile GPUs and third-generation Max-Q tech at CES 2021. In addition to the mobile GPUs, the company also launched its rumored Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPU for desktop systems. We also got the latest information around eSports-focused gaming laptops and Nvidia Studio laptops with the RTX 3000 series GPUs. The company has also added Nvidia DLSS support to Call of Duty: Warzone, Outriders, Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, and Nvidia Reflex support to Rainbow Six Siege and Overwatch. GeForce RTX 3000 series mobile GPUs details

As part of the RTX 3000 series mobile GPUs, Nvidia showcased its RTX 3060, RTX 3070, and the RTX 3080. The company noted that interested buyers will get more than 70 GeForce RTX 3000 series mobile GPU-powered laptops. Laptops with RTX 3060 GPU will start at a base price of $999 and offer around 90fps at “ultra-settings” in the latest games at 1080p resolution. Nvidia noted that the RTX 3060-powered laptops will offer better gaming performance than RTX 2080 Super-powered laptops.

RTX 3070-powered laptops will offer around 90fps “with ultra-settings at 1440p” resolution at a starting price of $1,299. Finally, the flagship, Nvidia RTX 3080 powered laptops will offer more than 100fps with ultra-settings at 1440p. The RTX 3080 mobile GPU-powered laptops will start at $1,999 with “up to 16GB G6” video memory. This GPU can also offer up to 240fps in eSports titles such as Overwatch, Fortnite, Valorant, and Rainbow Six. Nvidia claims that the latest gen mobile GPUs will offer a 2x increase in energy efficiency with better performance.

As per the announcements, the additional might of RTX 3000 series mobile GPUs can also be used to power several Nvidia technologies for a better experience. These include Nvidia Broadcast, Nvidia Reflex, GeForce Experience, and Nvidia Studio. In a similar manner, the power of the new GPUs ensures that video creators and designers get “up to twice as fast” performance when compared to the last generation. Nvidia also noted that its OEM partners will start rolling out laptops with the latest mobile GPUs from January 26. The list of these partners includes Asus, MSI, Razer, Acer, Alienware, Lenovo, HP, and Gigabyte. Beyond this, system makers will also start offering RTX 3000 series powered laptops.

3rd-gen Max-Q tech out

Beyond the 3000 series mobile GPUs, we also got the 3rd-generation Max-Q technology for upcoming thin and light gaming laptops. The highlights of this generation include Nvidia DLSS, Resizable BAR memory, WhisperMode 2.0, and Dynamic Boost 2.0. Looking closely, Dynamic Boost 2.0 ensures improved optimization to extract more performance from the CPU and the GPU. WhisperMode 2.0 offers “a new level of acoustic control” that is “custom-built into each laptop”. Resizable BAR memory support allows the CPU to access all the GPU memory at once to offer better gaming performance.

The company also launched its cheapest RTX 3000 series desktop GPU at its CES 2021 keynote address. As noted above, this new GPU is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060. Nvidia has priced the GPU ad $329 though we are not sure about the India pricing. Looking at the hardware specifications, we get 12GB GDDR6 memory on the GPU along with a 192-bit memory interface, and some impressive performance. Beyond these, we also get resizable BAR support, support for Nvidia DLSS, Reflex, Broadcast, and support for One-Click GPU tuning. The partner cards from Asus, MSI, Zotac, EVGA, and more for the RTX 3060 will land towards the end of February. Finally, the company also shared new hardware including gaming monitors and mice that come with support for Nvidia Reflex.
