VALORANT Patch 9.06 Introduces Agent and Map Changes, Player Behavior Overhaul

VALORANT Patch 9.06 drops on September 24, 2024, with agent buffs and nerfs, map updates for Ascent and Haven, and stricter penalties for player behavior. Learn how changes impact Vyse, Neon, Phoenix, Killjoy, and more.

VALORANT Patch 9.06 introduces several important changes, mainly focusing on agent interactions with the maps Ascent and Haven along with player behavior updates.

Key Agent Changes:

  • Buffs:

    • Vyse: Map changes make it easier to place Vyse's Arc Rose ability.
    • Cypher: Map adjustments simplify placing Cypher's tripwires.
    • Neon: Neon’s Fast Lane wall can now break windows.
    • Phoenix: Phoenix’s Blaze wall can also break windows.
  • Nerfs:

    • Harbor: Harbor's High Tide no longer breaks the Ascent A-site heaven window.
    • Brimstone: Audio changes for his Orbital Strike make it easier for players to avoid damage.
    • Killjoy: Killjoy’s Lockdown can no longer break windows.
    • Chamber: Chamber’s Trademark trap will no longer break windows.

Ultimate Changes:

  • Brimstone: His Orbital Strike now has an activation audio cue, making it easier for players to dodge.
  • Vyse: Vyse’s Steel Garden Ultimate will have clearer wind-up audio in the direction it is cast.

Map Adjustments:

  • Ascent: The A-site window’s interaction is overhauled. Some abilities like Phoenix’s Blaze and Neon’s Fast Lane can break it, but others like Harbor’s High Tide and Killjoy’s Lockdown cannot.
  • Haven: Adjustments are being made to make the placement of abilities like Cypher’s tripwires and Vyse’s Arc Rose easier.

Player Behavior Overhaul:

  • Communication abuse penalties are stricter, and repeated violations will lead to harsher punishments.
  • Players now have the ability to block other users, preventing any interaction, including party invites or friend requests.

Console Changes:

  • Console players will experience updated mini-map sensitivity settings for agents like Omen and Brimstone.
  • Fracture has been added to the Unrated and Swiftplay map pool for console users.

  • New PC players will have access to “New Player Tips,” an optional feature that can be toggled in settings.
  • Weapon cosmetics will now be displayed in the HUD during gameplay when switching weapons.
  • AFK players will no longer be included in draw votes, streamlining decision-making during the match.
