Asus announces multiple monitors with HDMI 2.1 at CES 2021 along with a keyboard and mouse
As part of the gaming monitor lineup, we got the Asus ROG Swift PG32UQ, ROG Strix XG43UQ, TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A, and more. Let’s check everything we know about the latest Asus products at CES 2021 here.
Asus ROG Swift PG32UQ
Asus also announced several gaming peripherals beyond its extensive laptop lineup at CES 2021. Looking at the information available online, the company shared details about four new gaming monitors along with other peripherals. These peripherals include a new gaming mouse with a detachable number pad and a new gaming mouse. The announcement regarding some of these products came hours after the company showcased its Asus and ROG lineup of laptops. As part of the gaming monitor lineup, we get the Asus ROG Swift PG32UQ and the ROG Strix XG43UQ. We also got the TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A with ROG Swift PG279QM when it comes to new monitors. Asus HDMI 2.1 gaming monitors out at CES 2021 including ROG Swift PG32UQ
The highlight of the bunch is likely the ROG Swift PG32UQ and the ROG Strix XG43UQ. The PG32UQ features a 32-inch IPS panel with 4K resolution, 1ms response time, and 144Hz refresh rate. Asus has also added Display Stream Compression (DSC) technology to the monitor to offer high-quality visuals through one DisplayPort 1.4. Beyond this, its headlining feature is the HDMI 2.1 port which allows the monitor to deliver games at up to 4K resolution with up to 120Hz refresh rate.
Other features include Nvidia G-Sync support, and Asus Extremely Low Motion Blur Sync. ROG Swift PG32UQ also comes with Variable Overdrive technology to better handle variable frame rate technology. Asus also outlined DisplayHDR 600 support, 160 percent sRGB, and 98 percent DCI-P3 color gamut. The gaming monitor is set to launch in Q2 2021, and we don’t have pricing at the time of writing.
ROG Strix XG43UQ features a 43-inch 4K VA display panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. Like the PG32UQ it comes with DSC for 4K at 144Hz content and two HDMI 2.1 ports. It also features FreeSync Premium Pro, variable refresh rate, auto-low-latency mode, HDR1000, and 90 percent DCI-P3 color gamut.
Moving to the TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A, we get a 28-inch 4K-IPS panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel also features a 1ms response time along with HDR400 support, variable refresh rate, and 90 percent DCI-P3 color gamut. It comes with two HDMI 2.1 ports along with one DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC support. Both the XG43UQ and the VG28UQL1A will land in Q2 2021 but we don’t have the pricing yet.
Other gaming products and peripherals
Beyond the usual crop of HDMI 2.1 equipped gaming monitors, we also got an HDMI 2.0 gaming monitor called the ROG Swift PG279QM. This monitor features a 27-inch 1440p IPS panel along with a 240Hz refresh rate, HDR400, and 1ms response time. It also comes with a 95 percent DCI-P3 color gamut along with Nvidia G-Sync and Reflex support. Similar to other monitors, it will land in Q2, 2021.
As mentioned above, Asus also announced ROG Claymore II, a mechanical gaming keyboard along with RGB. The company claims that it is the first keyboard to feature ROG RX Blue Optical Mechanical Switches. The claims also include a “100-million-keypress lifespan” for prolonged durability. Interested buyers can also get the ROG RX Red Switches for the keyboard. Design-wise, the highlight of the keyboard is likely the detachable Numpad and the magnetic wrist rest.
The Numpad also features media controls that can be customized with macro commands or other user-defined shortcuts. It also comes with a USB Type-C port for a wired connection or a 2.4GHz RF connection for wireless connectivity. The wireless feature makes use of the 4000mAh battery that is built-in the device and offers “up to 40 hours” of backup on a single charge. Like any other ROG product, it supports Aura Sync lighting and customizations through the ROG Armoury Crate app.
Finally, we get the ROG Gladius III Wireless, a new gaming mouse from Asus that features 19,000 dpi tracking. The mouse supports wired, Bluetooth, and 2.4GHz RF wireless mode for connectivity. It also comes with Push-Fit Switch Socket II that supports “traditional 3-pin mechanical” or “5-pin Omron optical micro switches”. The company also states the users can replace the switches to increase the lifespan of the mouse. It also comes with zero-click latency, low-drag ROG Paracord cable. One can also get a wired version of the mouse in the market. We don’t know the launch timeline or the pricing of the keyboard and the mouse.
